Ellos fueron los creadores de la "World Wide Web", conocida mundialmente como WWW o "la web". Es decir, los muchachos idearon todo un sistema de comunicaciones de datos que no solo les solucionó el problema, sino que, una vez abierto al público en general y treinta años más tarde, goza de una inmejorable salud.

Este puñado de jóvenes mentes brillantes eran renuentes revelar su progreso (y fracasos) al mundo, por lo que comenzaron a desarrollar su protocolo en un ambiente cerrado: la red interna de la CERN. Mucha agua debía pasar debajo del puente antes de que se convirtiese en una red con acceso a cada hogar, distribuyendo documentos multimedia. Usando la disposición física de la red y de los edificios de la CERN como metáfora para el "mundo real" situaron diversas funciones del protocolo en diversas oficinas dentro de la CERN.

En una oficina, situada en el cuarto piso, estaba ubicada la base de datos central del World Wide Web: cualquier pedido de ficheros era encaminado a esa oficina, en donde dos o tres personas (¡sí, personas!) lo localizaban manualmente utilizando métodos que hoy parecen medievales y los transferirían, mediante la red, a la persona que había realizado la petición. Esta habitación era conocida como "Room 404" (Sitio 404).

Inevitablemente, la base de datos comenzó a crecer, y también la cantidad de gente con acceso a los documentos que en ella se almacenaba. Y también comenzaron a aparecer algunos problemas: había gente poco familiarizada con el sistema que efectuaba peticiones de documentos que no existían, o con nombres de archivo escritos incorrectamente. El personal a cargo de la "Room 404" enviaba, en esos casos, una nota explicando que el documento no podría ser hallado. Rápidamente, estas peticiones erróneas fueron contestadas con un mensaje estándar: "Sitio 404: archivo no encontrado".

Tiempo más tarde, cuando los procesos de respuesta fueron automatizados y los trabajadores del cuarto piso fueron reemplazados por ordenadores, los usuarios de la red pudieron acceder directamente a los documentos almacenados en la base de datos. Sin embargo, el mensaje de error estándar para indicar que un documento determinado no podía ser hallado siguió siendo el mismo: "404: file not found".

Este número de error ha sobrevivido hasta nuestros días, y forma parte de la lista oficial de errores del HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, o Protocolo para la Transferencia de Hipertexto)

Es posible encontrar en internet diferentes pantallas de “Error 404”, ya que los servidores de páginas web permiten la personalización de este mensaje, de forma que el administrador de cada sitio pueda adaptarlo a la estética general del resto de sus páginas. Acompañando a este artículo puedes ver algunas de las que más nos llamaron la atención.

Esta historia tiene todo lo necesario para ser verdadera. Pero hay algunos que aseguran que se trata de otra leyenda urbana. Quienes defienden esta postura se basan en que, según está definido en el protocolo estándar HTTP, el número de ésta respuesta (404) está definido de la siguiente forma: el primer número indica el tipo de respuesta, en este caso el 4 significa “error del cliente”. Los siguientes dos número indican el subtipo de error, en este caso el 04 ("Not found").

Este argumento es válido, y está documentado en w3.org, la organización encargada de velar por el estándar “www”. Pero no se puede negar que es mucho más atractiva y romántica la historia que acabamos de leer.

Considerando que se trata de algunos de mis grupos favoritos no es necesario que añada que estoy encantado de haberlo descubierto al curiosear en la lista de reproducción de Neuralblast. Dios bendiga a los buenos amigos... y a Last·fm.

O aventura de o noapte i se poate intampla oricui... Mai ales acum, ca este vara, iar ispitele sunt la tot pasul. Imagineaza-ti urmatorul scenariu: esti la mare, fara iubit (pentru ca tocmai te-ai certat cu el), iar gasca de prieteni iti propune sa mergi in noul club care s-a deschis pe plaja. Te gandesti ca este o idee buna, pentru ca iti doresti sa te distrezi la maximum si vrei sa iti mai iei gandul de la relatia pe care tocmai ai incheiat-o.

Aici, il remarci pe el. Are trup de Adonis si ceva din Justin Timberlake, artistul tau preferat. Vine la tine, iti ofera ceva de baut si te provoaca la o conversatie. La sfarsitul petrecerii, se ofera sa te conduca in camera de hotel sau te invita la o plimbare pe plaja. Incepe sa te sarute insistent si este clar ca te doreste. Ce faci in acest moment? Accepti aceasta aventura sau nu?

De cele mai multe ori, aventurile de o noapte implica doua persoane care nu se cunosc dinainte. Exista, bineinteles, si situatii cand se intampla intre doi amici, lucru care poate afecta in mod negativ relatia de prietenie sau, acesta "mica aventura", poate evolua intr-o frumoasa relatie de dragoste.

Atractia fizica este conditia suficienta a unei aventuri de o noapte, fara obligatii. Daca esti o persoana cu prejudecati, aceasta mica escapada te va urmari mult timp, te vei simti vinovata fata de tine (si fata de iubitul tau, in cazul in care exista), desi momentele petrecute intre tine si acel necunoscut au avut o intensitate maxima. Daca dupa aceasta noapte fierbinte iti vei dori sa mai traiesti astfel de clipe alaturi de noua "cucerire", dar el te va considera doar o aventura de o noapte?

Exista barbati care ar vrea o relatie de lunga durata cu o femeie care cedeaza asa usor? Poate faptul ca te-ai culcat cu el din prima seara nu se numara printre calitatile pe care el si le doreste de la o femeie cu care vrea ceva serios. Dar tu? Iti poti imagina o relatie de lunga durata cu barbatul alaturi de care te trezesti a doua zi si, poate, nici nu stii cum il cheama?

Daca doresti sa ramana o simpla aventura, incearca sa nu te implici prea mult, nu ii cere numarul de telefon si nu termina  conversatia "de dupa" cu replici de genul "Vorbim mai tarziu" sau "Ne vedem pe plaja", menite sa ii dea speranta ca va veti revedea. Daca esti ferm convinsa ca nu il vei mai revedea niciodata, in mod sigur nu vei duce grija eventualelor tensiuni sau a barfelor.

In acest caz, orice aventura cu un coleg de serviciu sau un prieten este interzisa. Daca aceasta aventura se dovedeste a fi pe placul colegului/prietenului, iti va fi foarte greu sa scapi de insistentele lui, iar daca aventura va fi un dezastru, atat pentru tine cat si pentru el, va fi foarte jenant cand va veti reintalni.

Trebuie sa pui in balanta si sa analizezi toate aceste situatii, chiar daca in acele momente nu mai gandesti "limpede". In orice caz, daca se intampla sa ai o aventura de o noapte in acesta vara torida, nu uita sa te protejezi. Este cel mai important lucru! Prezervativul trebuie sa fie indispensabil in aceasta vara (si nu numai). Elimini, astfel, riscurile infectarii cu diferite boli cu transmitere sexuala si, chiar, o sarcina nedorita.

Nu trebuie sa accepti o aventura de o noapte doar pentru a te razbuna pe iubitul cu care te-ai certat sau care te-a neglijat. Nu vei face decat sa pari disperata, iar acest lucru nu face bine, nici tie, nici lui si nu rezolva problemele pe care le ai in cuplu. O astfel de aventura nu iti reconfirma feminitatea. Tu oricum esti o persoana care arata bine si este foarte sexi! Trebuie sa ai incredere in tine si sa incerci sa ii comunici iubitului care este problema.

Intr-o aventura de o noapte, ambii parteneri urmaresc sa atinga propria satisfactie, niciunul dintre ei nu poate fi generos. Este adevarat ca energia sexuala si spontaneitatea sunt punctele fortele ale sexului de o noapte, dar, parca relatia stabila este mai "dulce". Cei doi stiu ce ii place fiecaruia, satisfactia fiind impartita la doi.

Oare cum sunt catalogate aceste femei care se lasa conduse de hormonii infierbantati in valtoarea unei nopti varatice de amor? Sunt disperate? Usuratice? Ar trebui sa iti fie mila de ele sau, din contra, sa le admiri? Sau ar trebuie sa le condamni? Poate sunt doar niste femei, ca noi toate, care simt o nevoie acuta a unei "dezlantuiri".

Exista cazuri in care femeia, implicata intr-o relatie foarte lunga, nu se mai simte satisfacuta, implinita si este foarte plictisita, se arunca in bratele primului sosit, in speranta ca va gasi acea satisfactie si implinire de care ducea lipsa. Se simte libera si dispusa sa incerce orice, numai pentru un minut de intensitate.

Ai avut vreodata o aventura de o noapte? Ce ai facut? Ai mascat-o discret pentru ca iubitul tau sa nu isi dea seama sau i-ai povestit acestuia, ati incercat sa rezolvati problemele de cuplu si ai continuat relatia cu iubitul? Sau tii si acum acest secret?

O relatie implica, pe langa multe altele, sinceritate, comunicare si respect reciproc. "Minciuna are picioare scurte", iar acest gen de secrete nu ar trebui sa existe intr-o relatie serioasa. Fiecare are fantezii, unii dintre noi chiar foarte multe, dar nu este musai sa le punem in aplicare, mai ales daca il iubesti pe cel de langa tine.

In fond, tu esti cea care alegi! Daca o aventura de o noapte, in aceasta vara, crezi ca te face fericita si implinita, esti libera sa o faci, dar nu uita sa folosesti un lucru esential, prezervativul!

Favourite albums and books of the moment

Without any doubt, my favourite album of the year so far is Judas Priest's new 2CD set 'Nostradamus'. I can't even begin to describe how wonderful this is, and how jealous and bitter I am that I didn't create this album myself.

I play it constantly. I have gone back to all my Judas Priest albums with absolute obeisance; I had really recently concentrated on my early favourites, 'Sad Wings of Destiny' and 'Sin after Sin', before hearing 'Nostradamus', but now I have returned with renewed Coptic Force 'n' Juice to all their works. Blissful.

I also want to say how much I love the new album by Lynn Jackson, 'Soft Stars'—absolutely my favourite work by her so far. Very touching, very beautiful, very pure and very true. You can hear her work here www.myspace.com/lynnjackson and buy the CD at www.bustedflatrecords.com.

And, very belatedly, I have started reading the works of Michel Houellebecq, starting with Atomised'. If you haven't read this—and I am sure many of you discovered this author long before I did—I urge you to do so. One of the bleakest, funniest, most terrifyingly accurate and unsentimental books I have ever read. I would have to put it down after every couple of pages, as I was so overwhelmed with its beauty and power.

So, overawed by my inadequacy in the face of Judas Priest and Michel Houllebecq, I return to my Cartoon Apocalypses.

Heute wurde nun die Gewinner-Boschaft verkündet. Sie lautet "sei einzigartig, sei vielfältig, sei berlin".

Das passt, tut keinem weh und kann in vielerlei Hinsicht interpretiert werden. Ein junges Mädchen aus dem Speckgürtel der Stadt darf sich nun über ein paar Preise und eine geschüttelte Hand von Klausi Mausi Wowereit freuen.
