El plan de choque de Bush para rescatar a las entidades quebradas y dar curso a un formidable negocio financiero de los bancos privados del Sistema de la Reserva Federal fue posibilitado por la corrupción y el lobby bancario sobre los políticos, incluidos los candidatos presidenciales. Porqué se derrumbaron las bolsas y fracasó el plan.

El gran comandante del plan de rescate es Henry Paulson, el septuagésimo cuarto secretario del Tesoro de los EEUU,  el padre de un paquete de medidas de US$ 850.000 millones –el mayor llevado acabo en el país- que tras ser implementado el viernes fue recibido este lunes con un derrumbe bursátil y pánico financiero generalizado que se extendió por todo el planeta.

El primer tramo del macro-negocio privado con la  crisis financiera se inició el viernes pasado  con la aprobación por parte de la Cámara de Representantes de EEUU del plan de choque de Bush para salvar a las entidades quebradas con dinero público. Una operación inicial de US$ 700.000 millones que el Tesoro USA (por medio de emisiones de deuda pública) entregará a los bancos privados del Sistema de la Reserva Federal. Según la CNN, Paulson ya nombró a Neel Kashkari, otro ex ejecutivo de Goldman Sachs, para supervisar el plan de rescate aprobado el viernes pasado por el Congreso. Kashkari fue confirmado como nuevo asistente del Tesoro, según la prensa financiera estadounidense.

De acuerdo con The Wall Street Journal, Paulson llevó a cabo el nombramiento de Kashkari como titular interino de la nueva Oficina de Estabilidad Financiera del Tesoro para contar a Goldman Sach (a través de Paulson y de Kashkari) en el más alto nivel de decisión.

Kashkari ocupaba el cargo de secretario asistente del Tesoro para asuntos internacionales, y como titular interino de la nueva Oficina de Estabilidad Financiera del Tesoro, supervisará y tendrá un rol clave en el fabuloso negocio financiero avalado por el Estado USA que tendrá como misión esencial rescatar y/o comprar (mediante créditos e inyecciones de dinero)  los títulos "tóxicos" y las entidades quebradas de la "burbuja" especulativa para sanear el sistema financiero privado imperial.

El Tesoro, la Reserva Federal (Fed) que preside Ben Bernanke, la Corporación Federal de Seguro de Depósitos, (FDIC) y la nueva Agencia Federal de Financiación a la Vivienda (FHFA, por sus siglas en inglés) dirigida por James Lockhart, serán los organismos que intervendrán en la operación que convertirá en deuda pública las perdidas del sistema financiero privado.

Antes de su llegada al Tesoro de EEUU, Kashkari, un ladero histórico de Paulson al servicio de Goldman Sach,  lideraba la oficina de seguridad tecnológica en la banca de inversión de Goldman en San Francisco.

A pesar de comandar el Tesoro, un virtual ministerio de Finanzas estadounidense, Paulson es considerado un operador de Goldman Sach y del resto de bancos privados que controlan el Sistema de la Reserva Fedaral comandada por Bernanke, otro operador clave del lobby sionista que controla el negocio con el "plan de crisis".

Curiosamente, el hombre que comanda el "plan  anticrisis" proviene del riñón de Goldamn Sach,  uno de los causantes de las turbulencias financieras donde se formó y que dirigió desde 1998 hasta mayo de 2006.

“Es increíble que este Senado pueda autorizar a una única persona, con muy poca previsión, un autoproclamado experto de Wall Street, el poder para llevar a cabo el mayor desembolso de la historia de la república”, vociferó el jueves pasado el senador republicano Jeff Sessions durante el debate sobre el plan de rescate de los mercados financieros.

Además de ser operador del lobby sionista en la esfera estatal del Imperio, Paulson, es a su vez, un especulador acaudalado.

A los más de US$ 30 millones de dólares anuales que ganaba en Goldman Sach, se le sumaron otros US$ 500 millones  resultantes de la venta de las acciones que tenía de la entidad, eximido de pagar impuestos sobre el capital gracias a su nuevo cargo en el Gobierno federal de EEUU.

Paulson comenzó sus pasos en la política  como asistente del secretario de Defensa en el Pentágono. Durante la administración Richard Nixon, se desempeñó como ayudante John Daniel Ehrlichman, uno de los hombres de confianza del presidente y figura clave en el caso Watergate, por el que fue condenado por conspiración, obstrucción a la justicia y perjurio.

Después de esa "experiencia", Paulson se incorporó a Goldman Sachs en 1974 en la oficina de Chicago para convertirse en socio de la firma apenas ocho años después.

Comenzó a dirigir el frente de la unidad del medio oeste y se hizo con el puesto de socio director de la oficina de Chicago. Finalmente dio el salto de director financiero del banco a Consejero Delegado cuando sustituyó a Jon Corzine.

En mayo de 2006, Henry Paulson recibió la llamada George W. Bush para suceder a John Snow como Secretario del Tesoro de los Estados Unidos y en el mes de junio recibió el apoyo unánime del Senado, pese a que en un primer momento el propio partido Republicano atacó con crudeza su nominación por su vínculos anteriores con el partido Demócrata.

En realidad, dicen en Washington, Paulson no es él sino Goldman Sach, uno de los gigantes históricos del lobby bancario que controla la Reserva Federal, el Tesoro, y las redes financieras privadas que actúan y hacen negocio a la sombra del Estado norteamericano. ¿Qué mejor que Paulson para comandar el plan de rescate?, señalan irónicos analistas estadounidense tras su designación.

Corrupción política y lobby bancario

Tanto Goldman Sach como Morgan Stanley son considerados los dos grandes beneficiarios del manejo del dinero propuesto para "salvar la crisis" que se llevó a otros gigantes históricos como Merrill Linch y Lehtman Brothers.

Y no por casualidad, Goldman Sach (junto con los otros bancos del lobby sionista) ,es uno de los más activos e importantes contribuyente a la campaña presidencial de EEUU, tanto para el candidato republicano, John MacCain, como para el demócrata, Barack Obama.

Según un informe elaborado por la prestigiosa consultora Weiss Research, el principal contribuyente a la campaña de Obama es Goldman Sachs, que ha donado casi US$ 700.000 millones, seguido por la Universidad de California, Citigroup y JP Morgan Chase.

McCain, a su vez,  recibió aproximadamente US$ 200.000 de Merril Lynch, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley y Goldman Sach.

De acuerdo con el informe de Weiss Research, tanto Obama como McCain han obtenido enormes cantidades de dinero de los gigantes bancarios. Además, Obama ha recibido contribuciones de empresas de finanzas, seguros e inmobiliarias, el llamado sector FIRE, por unos US$25 millones,  mientras que  McCain ha recibido US$ 22 millones.

Los gigantes bancarios no contribuyen directamente, sino que canalizan dinero mediante la creación de los llamados comités de acción política o a través de aportaciones.

En este escenario, el plan de "crisis"  de Bush para rescatar a las entidades quebradas y dar curso a un formidable negocio financiero de los bancos privados del Sistema de la Reserva Federal fue posibilitado por la corrupción y el lobby bancario sobre los políticos, incluidos los candidatos presidenciales.

Cuando los sondeos y los testimonios en las grandes cadena muestran una mayoría contundente en contra, ninguno de los dos candidatos a las elecciones presidenciales ni las cúpulas de los dos grandes partidos se han sumado a la oposición al plan de "rescate" a la banca privado.

La explicación a tanto "fervor" por la banca privada en desmedro de los intereses de la población estadounidense, la dio el domingo el Center of Responsive Politics, un instituto de Washington que hace seguimiento de las contribuciones financieras a las campañas políticas y que analiza el dinero destinado a las dos fuerzas políticas que controlan el esquema bipartidista USA  y a sus líderes.

De acuerdo con Center of Responsive Politics, los legisladores que votaron a favor del plan de rescate en la Cámara Baja el lunes reciben como promedio un 50% más en donativos de los bancos de Wall Street y otras entidades financieras que quienes votaron en contra.

De acuerdo con el centro, con unos US$ 2.000  millones desde 1989, los bancos, aseguradoras y empresas inmobiliarias han sido la principal fuente de financiación para partidos y políticos individuales en un sistema político que gira en torno al intercambio de financiación y medidas favorables a los aportantes.

Mientras se debatía sobre los contenidos de la ley del rescate financiero -según Center of Responsive Politics-, "ejércitos de lobbistas de los sectores bursátil, bancario, inmobiliario y otras financieras trataron de dejar su huella en la legislación".

Porqué fracasó el plan

El fracaso del plan, con el derrumbe bursátil y el agravamiento de la crisis financiera, el lunes, tampoco tomó de sorpresa a los analistas y la prensa norteamericana que lo habían calificado de "insuficiente" para contener al desborde de los mercados.

De acuerdo con el informe de Weiss Research, el Congreso USA maneja desde el pasado 25 de septiembre un informe en el que se advierte que el plan de rescate de los US$700.000 millones es insuficiente para resolver la crisis y llega tarde.

Según la prestigiosa consultora, un total de 1.479 bancos y 158 agencias de crédito y ahorro, están en riesgo de quiebra en Estados Unidos y calcula que entre todos ellos manejan unos activos de US$ 3,2 billones, equivalente a 41 veces la cantidad estimada por la Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (Corporación Federal de Garantía de los Depósitos).

En su informe, Weiss Research concluye  que el plan "anticrisis" aprobado el viernes resultará un fracaso y agravará aún mas la situación, al provocar un aumento de las tasas de interés  y una contracción del crédito, además de una subida del déficit público en EEUU.

La Office of Managment and Budget (la Oficina del Presupuesto) calcula que en 2009 el déficit federal se incrementará hasta los US$ 482.000 millones, y que subiría a un costo de US$ un billón con las medidas "adicionales" de salvamento.

En general, la prensa norteamericana coincide en que el costo billonario del super-rescate (que pagará la población a través de los impuestos) potencia el proceso de crisis estructural por el que atraviesan las economías centrales de EEUU y la Unión Europea.

La mayoría de los analistas proyectan un agravamiento de la presión fiscal (suba de impuestos) y un recorte de planes y beneficios sociales como el emergente más inmediato del mega-salvataje estatal a la banca imperial en quiebra que incian EEUU y la UE.

Lo que incidirá en una mayor suba de precios y recorte del consumo (ya desatados), que se sumarán a los estragos de la crisis crediticia para potenciar el proceso inflacionario-recesivo en que se encuentran las economías de Europa y de EEUU.

Finalmente, la recesión (números en rojo de la economía real de EEUU y Europa) , psico-registrada en los "mercados" financieros más allá de los análisis y de los números reales, el fracaso (el sábado) de la Unión Europea para elaborar un plan de rescate como el de EEUU, y los temores de un derrumbe bancario en masa en la zona del euro, ya produjo lo que preveían los analistas.

Todos los "lunes negros" se juntaron este lunes en uno solo para detonar la peor jornada histórica de Wall Street y de las bolsas de Europa, Asia y América Latina, muchas de las cuales, como las de Argentina, San Pablo y Rusia, se vieron obligadas a detener sus operaciones.

I really start worrying... my company stock dropped to a record low of 15 bucks. Where is this going to end? ...ah and yes, I can forget my RSUs (Restricted Stock Units). I planned to buy a new PC from that stocks (that I can cash in December). I will be able to buy a computer, but it will look more like a pocket calculator if stocks drop like this ;)

Three years ago, 4,000 workers and their families in the Midlands faced an equally uncertain future. Did their plight gain the same number of column inches? Did government subsidies prop them up? Did anyone worry that a significant part of Britain's manufacturing base was to be decimated forever? And three years later, what has happened to those workers at Rover? How many of them lost their homes, where they able to get new clothes for their children, are they still out of work?

It is hard to feel sorry for bankers, consultants, insurers, in fact anyone who works in the City of London. When times are good, they 'avoid' taxes, buy up property to sub-divide and let out as rabbit hutches and treat ordinary people with a contempt. Hey, how big is your 'bonus'? When times are bad, they cry out about the detrimental effects to the economy and demand government subsidies to prop up their lifestyles. They justify nannies as to look after their children as they do not have the time to spend at home. They justify the third car as 'one needs a spare for France'. They justify spitting on train workers as they were drunk on a Friday night.

Giving subsidies is wrong on so many levels. Firstly, these were the people behind the rationalisations, the consultations, the economy drives in which other people lost their jobs, found their pay froze and generally made more profits for themselves to cream off from other people's misery.

Secondly, the, in simple capitalistic terms, bad businesses should fail. If we support bad business practice, then it gives free rein for all of these institutions to make cash out of nothing, safe in the knowledge that the taxpayer would save them from bankruptcy.

Thirdly, the sums that we are dropping into the system means that we are mortgaging not just our taxes, but also our children's. Ultimately we are building up a ticking time bomb of problems.

On a personal level, these people deserve nothing but a kick in the teeth. Financially, I am not bothered if the system collapses. My job is about as safe as it gets in this day and age (means nothing), I have no debts and no savings/investments/pension/property/career. Essentially I am out of the system and so do not care about it. As a principle however, these institutions should not be subsidised. Bad business should fail, debts need to be paid back and this country has over borrowed. We need prices to come down and the only way this will happen will be through mass bankruptcies and an end to the ludicrous buy-to-let mania so that the public at large can actually afford to live in this country. Also, how much are we prepared to subsidise these bad loans. Are we ultimately willing to take on GBP1.4 Trillion of debt that this country owes? Because that is the ultimate price that we would have to pay.

Oh well, the great con trick continues...

Been selling my art since I was 11-years old (30 years). Work mostly digitally.

What do you sell that would appeal to the guys?
I sell illustrations of robots, rayguns, radios, and record players as well as other things that don't start with "R". I find myself often describing my stuff to guys as art your wife, girlfriend, or partner will let you hang at home.

Where do you sell your stuff?
I sell my prints, rings and pendants on Etsy, as well as my own site, in my brick and mortar gallery, and I have some work in Art.com's mail order catalog and their site, and in John Lewis stores in the UK. This fall I should have work in two major home decor catalogs.

How long have you been in business?
30 years

How did you get started?
My mother was an artist, and helped me make some linoleum block prints when I was 11-years old.

How do you get the word out about your shop?
I list frequently on Etsy, and I advertise on a few sites.

What's your creative process?
I spent so many years having to be creative on demand, that I really just enjoy letting the ideas come to me without having to force anything. I will often let an idea stew for months before I actually act on it. I get influenced by lots of things I see, and eventually a combination of influences will gel into an idea.

What do you want people to know about your work?
I want my work to connect with people and have special meaning for them. It is valuable to me because it has meaning for others, and valuable to them because of that meaning. I want as many people as possible to be able to afford my work without having to scrimp and save and go without.

Anything else you'd like us to know?
I really appreciate the work you and others do to help artists like myself get their work into the hands of those who appreciate it.

This week's wallpapers are from last weekend's MSRA Toy Run.  It's generally the last big show of the year, and it brought out all kinds of amazing cars, such as these two C2 Corvettes.  The first is Harry Butz' Stingray Convertible.  Although most of the car was sacrificed so as to create a practical background image, it's easy to admire the gleaming paint and bodywork on Harry's sweet 60's beast.

The second image is Mike & Darlene Skolny's 1967 all-original 'Vette.  The sportscar has the same 327 small block, same 4-speed, same everything as the day it rolled off the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

So while Mrs. Palin's background and political acumen are completely different from my father's, she and her family are going through an experience I recognize. They are trying to define themselves in a short time-span, within a loaded political context.

From personal experience, I doubt if someone can really be known in this type of atmosphere, and I empathize with her family members who suddenly have to explain things that shouldn't need explanation.
