Ok. So we’ve learnt from Brooke Castillo and Martha Beck that we need to be internally focu

Ok. So we've learnt from Brooke Castillo and Martha Beck that we need to be internally focused and really work on listening to our thoughts and what we're feeling. But how does that help us to change our eating habits? What really drives us to eat when we're not hungry?

Brooke and Martha believe that thoughts drive all behaviour. Thoughts are responsible for our feelings, which cause our actions and our actions determine the results.

Brookes' example is that being overweight is the result of over eating, which is the action. What this model is saying is that every time we over eat we can trace back to particular thought(s) that drove us to eat.

Although a little confusing at first, this concept is revolutionary! For so long I've been attempting to run off the fat and follow stupid diets without success. Treating the result (and even small amounts of weight loss) have done absolutely nothing to help change the way I feel about my body. It makes sense that until we address why we're feeling a particular way our behaviour will not change long term.

After years of beating myself up about the way I look and my inability to change my body to look the way I wish, I've become totally disconnected with my body. Not only can I NOT tell when I'm physically hungry I'm also not sure I even know what I'm thinking half the time!

Another amazing concept that I learned from this seminar is that our beliefs (such as 'I'll never be thin') are just thoughts that we keep thinking and become fixed in our minds. It follows that if we can change the way we think, we change what we believe and how we feel. It is only then that our behaviour will change. Brooke refers to this as "reprogramming your brain."

Brooke's first step for Clients is listening in and acknowledging your thoughts. It all sounds too easy but after only 24 hours of trying to hear my thoughts and be more aware of what I'm thinking I can honestly say it's not easy! After being disconnected for so long I can see that it's going to take time and I'll really need to be super focused.

Give it a try and let me know how you go!

The seminar (presented by Martha Beck Inc) can be purchased from http://www.marthabeck.com/telecourses_detail.php?class_id=17&cat_name=Recorded%20Telecourses

For more detailed information relating to the Thought - Feelings - Actions - Results model, refer to Brooke Castillo's book, "If I am So Smart, Why Can't I Lose Weight?" available from www.amazon.co.uk

With all the diet information out there it’s hard to remember what we really should be eating,

With all the diet information out there it's hard to remember what we really should be eating, let alone how much. I know I'm confused!

Brooke Castillo assures us that it really isn't that hard. Her theory is that 90% of the food we eat should be "fuel" - natural, high energy food that the body needs to function efficiently. The key is eating the "fuel" as soon as you feel hungry and stop when the hunger is satisfied.

I'm not sure I remember what it's like to feel physically hungry. Do you? I tend to eat too much, too often!

Brooke emphasises how important it is to really understand what it feels like to be hungry so that you ensure you eat before you get so super starving that you eat everything in sight!

In Brookes' words, we "need to retrain ourselves and listen to our bodies." The physical sensation felt when hungry is the way our body communicates its needs. We should be feeling hungry every 3 hours or so and if we're not we're either over eating or not tuned into our bodies.

The remaining 10% should be food that you eat to enjoy. Excellent!

This is where Brooke's definition of overeating comes in. Anything that you're eating outside of the "fuel" and 10% enjoyment food is "over eating". It's when we eat this additional food that we need to be asking ourselves why. Becoming more internally focused will help us identify the cause of our overeating.

After listening to Brookes' wise words my goal for the week is to pay more attention to my body and how it feels. What does it feel like when I'm hungry?

The full seminar audio can be purchased from http://www.marthabeck.com/telecourses_detail.php?class_id=17&cat_name=Recorded%20Telecourses.

How many years have you set New Year resolutions related to losing weight??
I’m too scared to

How many years have you set New Year resolutions related to losing weight??

I'm too scared to count! I'm not sure I've ever had a New Year goal that wasn't, 'this year I WILL lose 5kg and I WILL get super fit.'

Brooke Castillo and Martha Beck believe that when we set diet and weight loss goals we're setting ourselves up to fail.

In the 'Why Can't I Lose Weight? (You Can!)' seminar (http://www.marthabeck.com/telecourses_detail.php?class_id=17&cat_name=Recorded%20Telecourses), Brooke explains that the minute you go off your diet or have an exercise free week, in our minds we've already failed. The goal is thrown aside in frustration. Another attempt yet again not completed.

Brooke teaches her Clients that dieting is not a one off event. The relationship with our mind and body is life long and therefore must be seen as a long term process.

Rather than focusing on the weight (the symptom, not the cause), what we should be doing is asking ourselves two important questions:

"What do you weigh and why do you weight that?"

We all know that if we eat more energy than our bodies need to function then the excess will be stored. Hence the extra weight we don't want.

What's important is that we start taking notice of when we are over-eating. Brooke recommends keeping a food diary to help track your eating patterns.

For example, do you overeat during work? Are you bored at work? Perhaps you're not feeling challenged? Or do you overeat when you're with friends? Why?

For me, when I'm with friends I'm so worried about what they think that I tend not to eat enough. Sounds like a bonus but it's definitely not! By the time I get home I'm starving and it only leads to me binge eating. I think I need to follow Brooke's advice and try and be more conscious of my thoughts rather than worrying about others.

Working through why you're over eating leads you to the root cause of your eating habits. Brooke suggests that through this process you will learn more about yourself than you would ever anticipate.

Guarding against unlawful discrimination in the lending process is still very important today even though other regulations seem to be getting more press. Rob will discuss the elements of unlawful discrimination under Regulation B and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and offer tips as to how to guard against it. He will also discuss recent cases where financial institutions have run into trouble and the consequences of violating Regulation B. To sign up for this seminar, please click here.

I appreciate the City of Austin for so many reasons, and in particular, for things like this. What I'm talking about is this Meet The Lender conference they hold, free to the public, to help educate our city so we can make the most informed decisions. So, not only am I going to attend the event, I'm also called and arranged it so I can volunteer.

Hello

For over 15 years and under Chairmanship of the Founder himself,
Dr Rudolf Lin, the TUE Club has educated more than 30,000 members
worldwide to become free.

You know freedom doesn't come easily, few people know what it is.

Want to find out for yourself?
http://www.tueclub.biz

To discover how un-free you are, is actually an uncomfortable
revelation (we are led to believe that we are free).
But if you are in debt, you are not free, if you are working from
Monday to Wednesday to pay all your taxes
(income tax, council tax, road tax, so called Value Added Tax,
what a euphemism that is) etc...you really are not free.

If you cannot choose where and how your children should be educated,
public and private. You cannot move to where you would prefer to live,
and so many other things - you are not free. OK, you have a roof over your head,
food, water, heat, so you are far, far luckier than millions, but
that doesn't define freedom. And prices are rising faster than incomes.

Dr Lin was brave enough to put himself in a position where he was
subject to persecution just because of the nature his beliefs and
the information he distributed. He could easily have
packed it all in years ago but instead he continued to run the show
and always was working on developing things and making the
information ever better for the members. And he even
continued to do this over the last few months while he was not feeling well.

He never, ever did this for the money. This was his life's work.
Sadly, Dr Lin passed away in June 2007.

We will miss him.

Some early UK members met Dr Lin in Birmingham (May 2007)
They were highly impressed and he came across as a very genuine person
and very passionate about his work and his vision.

Simone Linschoten is Dr Lin's daughter and was also co-founder of the
the club. She has been heavily involved with the running of the club since
1993 and is also a very accomplished business woman who made her
first million by the time she was 23 years old!

Simone was appointed Chairman of the Club and is personally in
the London and Los Angeles offices making sure, that her father's
wish and dream is maintained. To help educate every able person.

As announced in April 2008 Simone passed the chairmanship to
D. Robert Cathers jr. A business man with a great financial background
in dealing with heads of state in the USA and Africa.

The Ultimate Entrepreneur Club will therefore continue to bring you
the education and knowledge of the wealthy. Global (often called offshore)
Technology is an area of expertise usually not taught at universities
or financial institutions.

These strategies generally require a different mind-set, often
contrary and diametrically opposed to prevailing trends.

Dr. Lin's and additional audios will shake people out of their "conditioning"
and into a different and more truthful reality. This will set the stage
for you to understand more about freedom than you ever thought possible.

Your new 'mindset' will be ready for the incredible profits that
can be reaped by participating in "The Club."

Establish International accounts and contacts, protect yourself and
your family from the International currency crisis about to descend
upon us all, as a result of the the National Debt and the UK,
Japanese and American banking systems.

But there is much more to this Club:

* How to legally protect yourself from judgements and creditors.
* Why you need to control your own financial information.
* How to strategically plan for good credit by design. Your design.
* What to do with really bad credit and how to correct it.
* Credit Card Debt, what can you do to eliminate it

These are just a few points from the Stage 1 It's Your Money Series
and this information can save you thousands.

Not only does the TUE Club offer education and knowledge, it
also helps you to create an instant income. By passing on the Club
details to other like minded people you will receive over GBP500 of the
retail price.

I have described above how this is worth every single penny and
instead of the creator and author making all the money, the Club is
passing this opportunity on to you.

This was his plan to help.

Thank you Dr Lin.

We are about freedom - and spreading it. Email me, question me,
telephone me, Skype me, the decision is of course entirely yours,
delete me or ignore me even.

Whatever you choose, I am not going to tell you what to do,
you are the master of your own destiny, are you not?

Should you wish to join us or just to have a chat, please contact me.

It is my choice to pass on Dr Lin's legacy.

Can I pass it on to you?

A Symposium to be held at the University of Otago, 18-20 June 2009

Interracial intimacy has been the subject of extensive historical research by historians of colonialism in Canada, the United States, Australia and elsewhere. New Zealand’s history of interracial intimacy, as well as the diverse manner in which such relationships emerged, is now coming to light. The purpose of this symposium is to foster further work in this field, by focusing on New Zealand histories and experiences of interracial intimacy from contact until the 1960s across a broad range of ethnic communities and peoples. Submissions are invited from those who take a multi-disciplinary perspective, as are proposals that take a broad view of interracial intimacy to include friendship and other affective ties. Proposals that deal with the following themes are also strongly encouraged:

Transnational and comparative perspectives
The visual, particularly family photograph albums, art and film Literary representations
Categories of ‘race’ and ‘whiteness’
Mixed descent peoples, families and communities
Interracial intimacy and the rule of law
M?ori encounters with Asia and the Pacific
The sexual economy of cross-cultural encounters

An abstract of 250 words, a brief biographical statement, and a 1-page CV should be sent to Angela Wanhalla, Department of History, University of Otago (angela.wanhalla@otago.ac.nz) by October 1st 2008.

We've been busy traveling with Self-Directed Alliance seminars. We've been to Dallas and Miami most recently.

International Sales Group in Miami hosted a seminar for real estate agents and brokers. Our presentation was tailored specifically to them. We showed them how real estate can be purchased with an IRA. Information was also given about the process of securing a non-recourse loan. Many questions were asked and they were all excited about learning more.

Our Dallas seminars that Providing Profit hosted have all been a huge success. We will be returning to Dallas soon to present again. Theresa Fette, the compliance office for Provident Group was bombarded with questions after our presentation. We're looking forward to returning to Dallas for more seminars.

July 10th we will be in Las Vegas presenting at a seminar for L. L. Bradford & Co. at the Las Vegas Country Club. There are over 25 attendees registered all ready. Don't forget to register if you would like to attend.

When a child has gotten hurt, he usually heads straight for the person that can comfort him at that moment. A caretaker is there to place a bandage on the wound in order that the healing may start. I have never seen a child run away and not want to get a kiss on the "booboo" or a bandage to mark the spot of the infamous "hurt". Instead, the child wants healing and love to comfort them and let them know that everything is going to be alright. The child comes to the caretaker, because he feels safe and close to them.

"There are none of us so close to Him but that we may be nearer, and the secret of our daily Christian life is all wrapped up in that one word, "come". Nearness is what we are to pursue, and that nearness is capable of indefinite increase. We know not how close to his heart we can lay our aching heads. We know not how near to his fullness we may bring our emptiness. We have never reached the point beyond which no closer union is possible." (Alexander Maclaren)

'There's a bumper sticker that says, "If you don't feel close to God, guess who moved?" God is always in pursuit of us, and yet we so seldom, "come" to Him. Instead, it seems, we prefer to "go." We may go to church, go to Christian concerts, even go to seminars to hear the greatest Bible teachers. All of this is fine--after we obey the most elemental instruction of Jesus: "Come."' (Charles Sheldon)

Quote of the day: Christy Povolish

"He is the best caretaker in your life and knows exactly where to place that bandage so that the healing can take place and you can start living."

Bible verse of the day: Matthew 11:28

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

So many times, I want to be that person that wants to go, go, go, and You remind me how simplistic the instructions in Your Word are to just "come". Life is so much easier when I just "come" to You and hear the things that You are telling me as I lay my head on You for comfort. Father it is great that You have gifted many in the ability to speak Your Word, but it does me no good, when I can't even listen to greatest speaker of all, You. Father, something great is about to happen in our nation, and across the world. You are gearing up to do a move so great, that people won't even understand and they will just want to worship. Father, I am so excited about starting Your church in Texas. It's like our worship pastor's CD is called, Now, but not yet. I am ready now, but our time is not yet. As you continue to prepare us and as we move forward with Your plans in the church, may we soak up all the things that You will have us to learn and equip us with people that are willing to serve for the Kingdom. I thank You for this day and a hope of tomorrow!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Two hours from now, I will talk about how to use the principles of One Minute Manager in teaching ot

Two hours from now, I will talk about how to use the principles of One Minute Manager in teaching others to teach themselves. I am the guest speaker of Transco and Napocor employees in their flag ceremony this morning. Many thanks to Ana Paguio for inviting me.

I believe that my ultimate goal as a trainer/teacher/speaker is to help my audience teach themselves. Just as the leader is successful when he or she is able to develop other leaders.

The principles are not new. If you've read my earlier entry on I Will Multiply My Value a Hundredfold, you will see that it simply declared the first principle in One Minute Manager.

And maybe, unknown to Transco employees, they can find a book in their library entitled the 15 Second Principle which say almost the same thing. Even before I read this book, I have been sharing the principles in every toastmasters meeting, in every High Impact Presentation , in every Performance on Purpose, and every Personal Effectiveness seminars. I am not sure if I have already talked about Personal Kaizen in this blog. That one too follows the same principle of the One Minute Manager.

If you want to know more about the principles, read the article of Ken Blanchard himself, and the book review below:

The One Minute Manager
by Kenneth Blanchard and Spencer Johnson

The One Minute Manager reveals three secrets to productive and efficient managing as told through a young man's search for the perfect managing and leading skills. The One Minute Manager is focused on, not surprisingly, a one minute manager. The man is a venerable leader that is highly spoken of by his employees, his three secrets being the key to his success.

The first secret is One Minute Goals. This involves a meeting of the manager and the employee where goals are agreed on, written down in a brief statement, and occasionally reviewed to ensure that productivity is occurring. This whole process takes a "minute", which truly means it is a quick meeting, however it is not limited to just sixty seconds. The purpose of one minute goal setting is to confirm that responsibilities of each working is understood, understanding that confusion leads to inefficiency and discouragement.

The second secret to one minute managing is one minute praisings. This involves being open with people about their performance. When you catch someone doing something right, a goal of the one minute manager, you praise them immediately, telling them specifically what they did correctly. Pause to allow them to "feel" how good you feel regarding their importance to the organization, and finish by shaking hands.

The third secret is the one minute reprimand. Being honest with those around you involves reprimanding when a wrong has occurred. The first step is to reprimand immediately and specifically. This is the same as the second secret, and it holds an important aspect of the first secret: it enables an understanding of responsibilities and how to complete them correctly. Following the reprimand, shake hands and remind the person that he or she is important and it was simply their performance that you did not like. The one minute reprimand consists of the reprimand and the reassurance, both being equally important. If you leave the latter out, you will not be liked by those around you and they will attribute mistakes to them being worth less, which is far from the truth.

The One Minute Manager is a quick read that emphasizes key points throughout. The message is clear, and implementing the ideas is straight-forward and laid out in the book. This makes it simple to utilize the knowledge and techniques that the one minute manager style offers. Due to these factors, I find The One Minute Manager an effective tool for developing leadership.

Held on 19 and 20 June at the Ciudad Don Bosco in Medellín, the meeting had as its topic “Educational and pedagogical alternatives for children and young people who have been denied their rights.”The seminar concentrated in particular on the right to education seen as an opportunity for children and young people to escape from the poverty that deprives them of every possibility. From statistics mentioned during the seminar it emerged that education is one of the rights most denied to the young in Colombian society In addition to the other rights denied to them, the vast majority of youngsters, about 95%, are excluded for the school system either because of behavioural emotional or family problems, or through neglect, abandonment or rejection.

The Ciudad Don Bosco Seminar now in its XIV year was attended by educationalists, professionals in various disciplines, representatives of public bodies, NGO, educational institutions, universities and experts who shared their own experiences and made suggestions to ensure the rights of the smallest ones.

The organises of the seminar were able to count of the support of the Secretariat for Education in the Antioquia Department. This same body has proposed to hold a similar seminar for its own workers as a means of formation so that education might become the indispensable means for the elimination of poverty, inequality and social exclusion.

Why Give Time Management Training to Your Employees

There is a lot of wasted time throughout a person’s day. A lot of wasted life too.
With a time

There is a lot of wasted time throughout a person's day. A lot of wasted life too.

With a time managing training course, you won't have to deal with the stress of every day deadlines. You will have everything under control - from personal to professional life. A training program (or workshop) can assist you become more proactive and less reactive. It will also help you get the maximum out of your daily routine.

Are you a company manager? Time management is one tool to success. When your employees manage their time wisely and efficiently you will see increases both in production and profits.

Wasting time lowers productivity, decreases profits, and fails a business. Have your people trained in time management because most people don't know how to properly manage their time. Give your employees the tools they need to find success for themselves and for your business.

Let me suggest three ways to make your time management training successful.

1. Try to involve everyone. No one likes to be singled out.Even if there are only a few people wasting time, make time management training mandatory for all employees. Understand that time management in the workplace is everyone's concern. Do you have 2000 employees? That must be a great problem. but the greater problem is to have at least/most one-tenth of them wasting an hour everyday simply because they lack the know-how of time management.

2. Invest a day in time management training. Unfortunately, very few wage earners would want to work overtime for a time management workshop. True, we can argue that attending one is for their benefit. However, most time wasters don't understand this. Some managers don't want to sacrifice productivity for a one-day training. Let's use a little of common sense here. A time-waster who waste an hour everyday is wasting 20 hours in a month (given five-day work) and 140 hours in a year. That must be more than 17 days of wasted productivity. If you are a time manager, you know that most time-wasters work only for 3 out of 8 hours work. Go figure the numbers!

3, Make time management training creative, interesting, and easy to understand.

There are a lot of training materials that are published for businesses that are just simply boring. They are dull and uninteresting and are completely incapable of keeping the attention of people.

The same is true with some facilitators. They lecture all day as if knowing time management will make the participants effective time managers.

If you are to handle the training yourself, personalize your material. Sell the benefits to them by using concrete examples. Get to the point. Your participants must appreciate how your company is investing for their personal and professional growth. Use a little of your own creativity to make the lessons fun and more interesting. The training may revolutionize your business, but it is useless if no one pays attention. Putting some creative effort into the material will also let your employees know that you are serious about time management training, and it will make them want to take it seriously as well.

Now, if you think that hiring a facilitator is your next best option, get somebody who is willing to customize the training based on your company's need, and one who will conduct the training based on three P's.

What are the 3 P's?

When giving your employees time management training, always remember the three P's; pertinent, practical, and polished.

The information must be pertinent to what is going on in your workplace. Consulting books is okay, but don't depend on any. The solution to the problem in the workplace is always in the workplace. Believe me, workshop participants (well, most of them) know the importance of time management and must have read many articles on the subject. Often times, they know how to solve the problem. Encourage them to tell you how. I always do in my workshops. And always participants are surprised of how much they know.

Present practical ways for people to practice time management. I am a believer of active learning. Participants learn better if you will provide practice during the training, clarify issues, and affirm the correct practices they already do.

Make your presentation polished and professional. A polished presentation will keep your employees excited about the training, make them more apt to implement positive changes, and will boost the productivity of your business. I say, make all of your presentations polished ones. Doing so will make your employees see that you are truly serious about your time management training.

Again, simply knowing the benefits of time management training will not bring you anything. Only action will make your goals come true.

Give your employees the benefit to handle their lives better. Yes, time management is the same with life management. Those who cannot manage their time are also poor managers of their lives. Your people is your best asset. Empower, encourage, enroll every employee to enjoy the time of his life.

I woke up happy for some reason. It might have been because I had a good night’s sleep & p

I woke up happy for some reason. It might have been because I had a good night's sleep & prayed fajr at the right time, instead of staying up all night - doing practically nothing - & then sleeping only after praying. & not doing this, was enough to put a bit of a skip on ma steps? O but then there was another happy reason. I heard the rambling and mumbling of my dear ol' father in the living room. Dad's back from work!!! It's been four whole months since I last saw him (&& he's gotten me nothing!!). At least he's home safe, thank god. I never though I'd say this, but I miss him bossing me around. The typical, though still very unique, over protective, slightly dominating, too careful, love-to-laugh, ever reliable, very brown father, with a sense of humour that usually fails in the mighty opinions of his children or have been trying to do so at least. The conference came to be quite beneficial to me, the speeches were absolutely amazing, all of the speakers' efforts proved fruitful & my faith has been revived, hamdulillah. The book however is quite a heavy read, in that it's not quite a Jane Austen like tale. It's one of those books where each and every other word sentence seems important and you want to take note of. It's going to be my summer challenge, along with a jillion other titles. I'm open to suggestions for summer reads though - I'm really quite in need of a good chick book. I'm re-reading persuasion again. I heard the inheritance of loss is a good one, but haven't actually had the chance to read any. So do leave me a comment if you got a book that you must get everyone else to read.

I've gotta get serious with some writing, rather than ranting on and on about peanut here & her life. One of the main reason why I created a blog was to keep me productive during the summer, hope my plan actually works this time! So I've reading Western Muslims and the Future of Islam by Tariq Ramadan, which I bought at the TTC conference last weekend,

I had the chance of meeting Tariq Ramadan the last time he was here, but the lecture was in french, I had two finals the day after & I had no money left in my bank account for food, let alone tickets. Although I might have compromised the former for the latter any day. I guess it really wasn't meant to be.
