Professores preparam nova manifestação em Lisboa

Vários movimentos de professores agendaram uma manifestação para 15 de Novembro, em Lisboa, em protesto contra o modelo de avaliação de desempenho que afirmam estar a provocar "enorme cansaço e saturação" entre a classe.

"A implementação do modelo de avaliação de desempenho está a provocar um cansaço e saturação enormes entre os professores, que passam horas e horas a preencher grelhas, fichas e planos que não têm nenhuma repercussão positiva na qualidade das aulas e no processo do ensino e das aprendizagens", afirmou Octávio Gonçalves, coordenador do Movimento Promova.

Em declarações à Agência Lusa, o responsável adiantou que a iniciativa está a ser divulgada através de blogues, sms e e-mail, pelo que é de esperar uma "significativa" adesão dos docentes, sendo o lema do protesto "uma escola, um autocarro".

"O sentimento dos professores é que simplesmente não há nada para negociar. Rejeitam o modelo de avaliação de desempenho dos professores e o seu fundamento, que é a divisão da carreira em duas categorias hierarquizadas", acrescentou Octávio Gonçalves.

A última manifestação de professores, organizada pelos sindicatos, reuniu em Lisboa mais de 100 mil pessoas, a 8 de Março.

O debate que importa fazer é pois se uma relação adquire legitimidade apenas porque o estado assina por baixo, junto aos nubentes. Já aqui escrevi que: «a fórmula que acho devia ser implementada, é a que retira ao estado o poder de legislar sobre este tipo de contratos. (Reparem que na actual situação, como se viu na recente questáo do divórcio, o estado quando legisla altera todos os contratos, mesmo os já em vigor, o que fragiliza a segurança de quem o assume. É claro que acontece o mesmo com os contratos de habitação, p.ex.) Os direitos sobre sucessão, partilha de propriedade, responsabilidades civis, tutoria na incapacidade, etc, passariam a residir junto dos indivíduos que deles dispunham para os partilhar em contratos como melhor entenderem.»

O primeiro-ministro José Sócrates não precisa de dizer “adeus” a Lenine (segundo consta, “ele é mais" Bernstein). Mas também ele parece viver fechado num quarto onde as notícias do mundo exterior chegam deturpadas (o quarto só tem a RTP), mantendo a ilusão de que tudo corre bem em Portugal e a Sócrates se deve essa sorte. No quarto de Sócrates, uma governação “firme” fez “reformas corajosas” que resolveram os problemas do país e o tornaram “melhor preparado” para enfrentar a crise que assusta o resto do mundo, e se porventura alguma delas teve um resultado “menos bom” a culpa é da tal crise que essas mesmas reformas supostamente afastariam do nosso país. No quarto de Sócrates, as diárias acções de propaganda reflectem, não os desejos do Governo, mas a realidade de um país “de futuro”, no qual as críticas da oposição mais não são do que distantes ecos de “Velhos do Restelo” que, por não terem ambição, se opõem a toda e qualquer medida que desenvolva o país.

Cá fora, no entanto, a realidade é bem diferente, e nem a RTP consegue esconder a verdade: as “reformas corajosas” não passaram de remendos que empobreceram os portugueses sem lhes dar maiores garantias a longo prazo (como na Segurança Social, cuja insustentabilidade se mantém); a crise é bem real e afecta-nos tanto ou mais que aos outros países, precisamente porque, pobres e dependentes do exterior, não estamos “melhor preparados” para a enfrentar; a propaganda governamental, por sua vez, reflecte apenas o desprezo pelas dificuldades reais dos portugueses, que vêem o desemprego a aumentar e o governo a jurar a pés juntos que isso não acontece, que vêem uma porção cada vez maior do seu rendimento a ser sugada pelos impostos enquanto a despesa pública continua a crescer na exacta medida em que o Governo se esforça por nos fazer acreditar que não é assim.

Adeus, Lenine termina com a mãe a descobrir a verdade, sem que nada lhe aconteça por causa disso. Sócrates, seja em 2009, seja em 2013 (ou antes), acabará por sair do seu quarto em São Bento. O choque, no entanto, não o afectará a ele. Serão os portugueses quem terá de pagar a grande ilusão “socrática”, quem terá de enfrentar novos sacrifícios por, mais uma vez, não se terem feito as reformas necessárias para os dispensar no futuro.

One thing that fun that we did was watch tons of TV while he was laid up. We watched an entire marathon of "I love the 70's" on VH1, we watched Aladdin on Disney and finally found time to watch Iron Man on Blu-Ray. Wow, that was a great movie! Probally the best comics adaptation Sin City, although Sin City might still be my favorite. Robert Downey, Jr. was really great in it...and of course...The Dude, Jeff Bridges, was awesome in it. Great movie! Highly recommend it to everyone!

I did cook a little to cheer him up. Here's a picture of some homemade potato hash, bacon & eggs that I made him for dinner. Don't you just love breakfast for dinner? It feels comforting for some reason. To me, breakfast...specifically eggs. My favorite way is when they're scrambled up with linguica (a spicy portuguese sausage) if possible, but I'll take regular sausage or bacon. Any kind of pork fat is good, right?

And this makes me curious...what do YOU think of as comfort food?

Rooney scored 2 goals and set up another to lay the foundation for England's victory. Heskey and Walcott were also instrumental in carving the victory for England, though they themselves could not get on the score sheet. England struggled in the 1st half to finish the many chances created. Game came alive only after Rio Ferdinand headed England ahead before the hour mark.

In other world cup qualifying matches, Germany defeated Russia 2-1 to go top of the table. Portugal and France continue to struggle after having been held to goalless draws in there qualifying encounters.

Brazil put 4 past Venezuela whereas Argentina defeated Uruguay 2-1. Paraguay beat Columbia 1-0 to take the top of the table in the South American group for the World Cup Qualifiers with 20 points. Brazil and Argentina are joint second with 16 points each followed by Chile at 13 points and Uruguay and Ecuador are on 12.

Next round of qualifiers follows in mid-week. Watch this space for more results on the same…

Getting to Faro from the UK and Ireland is getting easier and easier with all the main low cost and national airlines offering a wide choice of flights from 20 different airports. 17 in the UK, 1 in Northern Ireland and 2 in the Irish Republic.
Most of the main European airports have direct flights to Faro but if you are travelling from outside of Europe it is best to head for the UK or Lisbon (the main Portuguese Airport) and then get your flights down to Faro.
Below are details of all the main airports and airlines offering direct, non stop flights to Faro from the UK and Ireland.
The flights take between 2 hours and 30 minutes and 3 hours depending on where you’re flying from and The Algarve is on the same time zone as the UK and Ireland at all times of the year!

There is no train service from Faro Airport and the bus service is somewhat limited. The best way to get to your destination is via a taxi, by pre booking a private transfer or by hiring your own car.
Having driven around the Algarve quite a lot my recommendation would be to hire a car. The whole area is easy to navigate, the roads are well sign posted and in general the traffic is pretty light.
One other tip…if you are flying from somewhere like London Gatwick remember that you can travel each way with different airlines, in many cases the flight times are quite different and it can be quite a lot cheaper to get 2 one way tickets!

Australia, France, South Africa, Brazil and the United States are the strong favourites for these games - but that's not to say that someone from somewhere else won't prove the pundits wrong. Italian Gidesio Ludovisi and Mark Jucker from Switzerland have already given some top rated surfers something to worry about..

The first and second round of the Longboard division, along with round one of Men's and Women's Bodyboard, were held yesterday.

The best performance of the day came from French Antoine Deplero who earned applause from the beach when surfing in the Longboard division. He deserved it after walking gracefully on his board and packing a great right with manoeuvres. He received a 10 from the judges which was backed up with an excellent 8.83. He went on later to win his second round heat, scoring a 9.5 and a 7.83. This was enough to put him in the short list of eight longboarders who will continue in the competition.

"The day was pretty good; this brings a lot of confidence to me. Let's hope to keep it this way," Delpero said. Regarding the spirit of the event, he added: "This is a great competition because we're all together and we make a good team. Ours is really good and really united. This gives you a lot of power."

In the Bodyboard division, another Frenchman scored the highest combined and single wave score. Pierre Louis Costes landed an amazing back flip that was worth 8.5 and was backed with a 7.00 to go through to the second round. elighted with his win and for the added bonus of landing his favourite trick successfully, he said "The heat was pretty good for me. I had two average waves at the beginning so, after that, I just tried to push my limits. A big wave came and I tried the back flip and landed it. I'm feeling great; this event is like the Olympic Games and we have a great team!"

On the womens' side, Australian Lilly Pollard reigned supreme in the Women's Bodyboarding, scoring 14.25 in her best two waves and soundly beating Mexican Kenia León, who came second and Peruvian María Chavez. Other great performances came from the local Rita Pires, French Heloise Bourrox, Japan's Yasuko Kima and Puerto Rican Natasha Sagardia.

These events continue today.

All-in-all there will be 48 heats over the next few days giving the world's best surfers a chance to prove themselves and win their competitions. There should be some great videos coming our way shortly - but not much yet. The German team have been videoing it very professionally but unfortunately this includes a lot of interviews etc - in German... so not much good for us here - apologies to SURFDWV because at least you're documenting it! My fault for not understanding German!!!.

Since I can't find anything on the ISA Games I thought I'd just post a bodyboarding video to get you in the mood for things to come - hopefully ... so thanks to reano80 for this great video on extreme bodyboarding. Hope you guys who are lucky enough to be out there in Costa de Caparica get to see some similar action!
