Μετά τα Diggin It Somethin Rotten & Keepie Uppies από την Tru Thoughts, υπέγραψε στην δισκογραφική εταιρεία Freestyle Records και μας παρουσιάζει τη νέα του δουλειά με τίτλο The Rhythm Station.

Reel People - Second Guess (2007)

review:
And....the party continues and the beat goes on! Let's hit the dance floor or at least tap your foot and move your body to the rhythm! This is an album in 2 cd that will hook you right away and never let you go! You think Incognito is the only best? wait until you listen to this. Rugi besar kalau ga donlot, i guarantee you that. It is soul music element in future jazz at its absolute finest.

Suka Incognito? suka Sova atau Andezzz? If you like funky soul in nu jazz, more modern acid, jazz buat yg berjiwa muda, yg ga sulit dicerna and most of all... absolut fun, this is a must. Sekali lagi.. rugi besar kalo ga donlot.

review:
Big news, Reel People is back and punch the early dawn of 2008 with their brand new album! Gw ingat album second guess mereka yang fenomenal, banyak yg demen n jadi mabok ama reel people, tapi ada jg yg sedikit kecewa dengan dominasi ajep2 disana. Well, di album ini, ajep2 itu jauh dikurangi. This is like a flashback to the history of acid, 80's disco and 70's funk altogether.

This is amazing blend, guys... Artis2 bintang tamunya seabreg2, vokal diisi bintang tamu hampir ditiap lagu, dan ninggalin Tasita hanya buat 1 lagu. Masing2 artis tamu ngeblend style mrk dgn style nya reel people, bikin album ini punya nuansa multi warna yg keren.

It is soul music element in future jazz at its absolute finest. Big props to Oli Lazarus, pentolan Reel People, buat imajinasinya untuk album ini. Okay, now let's hit the dance floor or at least tap your foot and move your body to the rhythm! to the left.... to the right....

01. Alibi (Vocal: Darien)
02. Outta Love (Vocal: Omar)
03. Amazing (Vocal: by Tony Momrelle & Imaani)
04. Rise & Fly (Vocal: Vanessa Freeman)
05. It Will Be (Vocal: Tony Momrelle)
06. Perfect Sky (Vocal: Joy Rose)
07. Ordinary Man (Vocal: Mike Patto)
08. High (Vocal: Dyanna Fearon)
09. Anything You Want (Vocal: Tasita D’Mour)

review:

Yo yo yo, fellow captivated nu jazz lovers and anyone who interested in nu sound of jazz, introducing DJ DAISHI DANCE/DAZE Aye gak tau nama asli nih DJ siape! (serba misterius n full name-nya dirahasiain, kayak vokalis solo fusion jazz dr Jepang juga, bird). Yg aye baca dari blognya doi (oops, awas! bahasa "cacing" ) nih DJ kelahiran tahun 1976 di kota Sapporo, Prefektur Hokkaido.
Sama kayak Jazztronik (DJ Ryota Nozaki), FreeTEMPO (DJ Takeshi Hanzawa), n STUDIO APARTMENT (DJ Masanori "Masa" Morita), nih karir DJ juga dibesarkan dan melesat namanya di belakang 3 set turntable plus di dunia gemerlap dancefloor club di Jepang, terutama club "Precious Hall" di kota kelahiran doi.
Musiknya? Well, mirip banget ama musiknya FreeTEMPO n STUDIO APARTMENT (lagi2 aye baca di blognya, klo FreeTEMPO aka Hanzawa-kun itu "nakayoshi" alias close friend-nya doi, coz sering banget manggung bareng )! Musiknya "melodic melancholy" n rata2 gabungin house music ama instrumen piano/violin/gitar akustik!
Karya-karyanya? Meskipun udah malang melintang di dunia dancefloor selama 10 tahunan lebih, doi baru ngeluarin 2 full album n beberapa singles/vinyl cd. Don't know why beda ama Jazztronik yg dalam setahun bs ngeluarin banyak full album sekaligus! But, doi pernah kolaborasi bareng CLAZZIQUAI PROJECT (itu lho trio nu jazz dari Korsel) n juga nge-remix lagu2nya Hamasaki Ayumi ama Nakashima Mika...

Review:
Beat-beat pada all tracks ga terlalu kencang, boleh dibilang santai. Well, gabungan beat-beat menghentak khas house/dance music plus digabung ama instrumen tradisional macem piano, violin, n gitar akustik: memberikan sentuhan yang laen, what an unusual Nu-Jazz!!!
Beberapa tracks featuring ama Lori Fine, vokalis duo COLDFEET. Menurut aye, kualitas vokal nya ga kalah nampol ama penyanyi lain n boleh dibilang setipe dengan Monday Michiru, Vanessa Freeman, n Carleen Anderson. Satu lagunya di-remix ama musisi sealiran, duo STUDIO APARTMENT.
Menurut aye, track demi track diracik cukup bagus n aye nilai DAISHI DANCE offers a cozy, not too fast, and captivating dance music!
Overall album ini bagus banget: just like acoustic meets electronic! perpaduan yang unik menarik dan very very worth to be listened.
Recommended tracks (by me): LET LIFE LOOSE, P.I.A.N.O., MOON GARDEN, LOVE, TRUST, BELIEVE, ama Snow Dayz!

Well, sama2 wae lah ama album sebelumnya. Kali ini tracks featuring ama musisi selain Lori Fine (of COLDFEET), especially di track 2 ama track 5. Di track 7, suaranya Roland Clark somehow reminding me of James Ingram. And jangan lupa juga cobain track 8, dengerin permainan violin melancholic dari Kinbara Chieko-san!

[audio http://media.blubrry.com/mandrakefm/mandrakesociety.com/wp-content/MFM050308.mp3]

Well, it's May, huh? Sorry for the lack of mixes during April. But love means never having to say you're sorry, and since I love you, you understand how life calls. In fact it's why I had to include this cool track from Nate Smith called "I'm Rushing Over" 'cause I felt you needed to hear it. The groove is tight and slightly nostalgic to 80's R&B, plus John Howard's voice is a winner.

Sliding from there into some broken-beat jazz-funkiness from Flowriders, "Russellology" speaks to all things literally heard, seen, said, and done. No, really. Hoodoo. Voodoo. I love jams like this, however you have to wonder what leaf blend the lyricists smoke sometimes.

Showing Dallas love, enjoy this fun slice of hip-hop as locals P.P.T. evoke Human League and Pet Shop Boys with fake accents to extend the joke. The song, "Love Crimes" from their latest project, Denglish, however is quite good. P.P.T. brings "party" to hip-hop music where people can actually dance, something that's been a long time gone.

Keeping this electronic mood, a fixture in the Boston music scene, Andre Obin, brings the track, "Angel Dust". While this single is available at iTunes and eMusic (like all the music I play), this is also going to be on his forthcoming disc from Moongadget imprint in June 2008.

House. For me, a live sounding house groove takes the expression of jazz and gospel music and allows you to slowly "go in" until you feel that spirit. The track, "In Your Phantom", by Missing Soul, is a fine example of what I mean. You can do it. Take your time. Do it right.

Rounding out the set is a young lady from Toronto that was discovered by Prince's manager, according to reports I'm reading. (Now which incarnation of the artist we know as Prince, I have no earthly idea.) Anyway, as the piano introduces the song, you come into a latin-inspired jazz number called, "So Deep" by Jennie Laws. She's got chops and nice songs. I'm digging it.

So along with your new Madonna, Portishead, and Jamie Lidell downloads, you've still got music to buy. Gas money? Nah! Besides you could have the coolest music collection on the bus ride to work.

Review:
After an incredible single on the swedish Raw Fusion, the winner japenese jazz band Quasimode's debut LP has just landed on Inpartmaint in Japan. oneself-LIKENESS is a fantastic album full of strong jazz compositions and stunningly fresh vibes. The style of the whole album is closer to the more composed and defined sound of stylish club or traditional jazz with a bit of latin touch then to the much-improvised freaky new japan jazz. This relative peacefulness and control provide the main essence and power of this full-length while showing how perfect acoustic jazz can sound today in Tokyo. Highlights of the album are the killer cover of Tubby Hayes' 'Down in the village', the brazil influenced epic 'Ipe Amarelo', the spiritual and groovy 'Skelton Coast' and the deep and fluid title song 'oneself-LIKENESS '. Each tune represents high quality and pure listening bliss, the only thing i miss is more of these awesome songs. Cant wait to see Quasimode playing live and this LP to be released worldwide. Raw Fusion will put out 'Ipe Amarelo' with a Spiritual South remix in the autumn. Japenese jazz is coming stronger than ever!

review:

SOIL&”PIMP” Sessions is an explosive Japanese jazz band, consisting of 6 members: Shacho (agitator), Tabu Zombie (trumpet), Motoharu (saxophone), Josei (piano), Akita Goldman (bass) and Midoryn (drums). The group is well known for their impressive live shows.
The members of the band met each other for the first time in 2001 during a club event in Tokyo. The club scene of the Japanese city was dominated by DJ’s at that time; SOIL&”PIMP” Sessions, as a live band, decided to change that, and even before their first major release, they stood at the most prominent festival of the country: the Fuji Rock Festival. Many good critics followed.
In the music of SOIL&”PIMP” Sessions, many different influences meet each other, such as soul music, rock, as well as artists such as Pharoah Sanders and John Coltrane. The band calls their style "Death Jazz".
In February 2005, they released their first full album: "Pimp Master". It became a great success in Japan and, with BBC Radio DJ Gilles Peterson as one of their biggest fans, their European exposure grows fast as well.
In 2006, "Pimp Master" has also been released as a CD and as a 12” vinyl E.P. in Europe through Gilles Peterson’s new label Brownswood Recordings.
A frenzied trip through American influenced jazz with a Japanese twist. I particularly like Shacho whose position in the band is listed as "Agitator": he shouts and screams random phrases throughout the album in broken English. If you enjoy modern Jazz you will enjoy this.

review:

Have you ever heard the hot compilation by various Japanese jazz artists titled Japan Nu-School of Jazz 2: Rebirth of Jazz, especially song titled "Palette"? You can spot a nu jazz-based band featuring piano, bass, sampler, and more for electro, Latin, and street jazz crossovers, indigo jam unit. The quartet are: 樽栄嘉哉 on keyboard, 笹井克彦 on double bass, 和佐野功 on percussion drum, and 清水勇博 on drum. This quartet can command the piano, drums, double bass and percussion and combine them into one great harmonious effect on all tracks! Both the pianist [樽栄嘉哉] and the double bassist's [笹井克彦] distinctive style and energy add to the attraction. If you love nu sound of jazz created by talented artists, such as Jazztronik, Kyoto Jazz Massive, quasimode, or FreeTEMPO, you'll love to heard the musical creativity of indigo jam unit.

Album Review:
A killer combo from Japan -- a club jazz unit that mixes warm, round bass with hard-hitting piano -- all held together nicely with two drummers on the bottom, and some very crisp production! The sound is totally great -- a stripped-down take on the mix of modal and soul jazz styles that have been coming from some of the Japanese and European club jazz groups of late -- and without any horns to get in the way, there's an added focus on the acoustic bass and heavy drums, which makes for a nicely funky sound overall! These guys are totally great -- way better than the "jam unit" name might make you think -- steeped in classic jazz roots, but coming across with a very fresh, very contemporary groove. Titles include "Car Chase", "Ibuki", "Charlie", "Alert", "Gekko", "Spin A Top", "2 X 2", and "5AM".

Album Review:
Fat funky bass, hard-swinging piano, and some very tight drums -- all served up by a Japanese combo who definitely live up to their name! Indigo Jam Unit have a groove that's totally great -- an approach to jazz that's steeped in soul jazz modes of the 60s and 70s, but with drums and bass that clearly have an ear for the hip hop generation -- not that they're actually hip hop samples or beats, but just the sort of crispy, well-timed rhythms that are waiting to be copped by a producer! Most tunes here are upbeat, and either in a modal jazz or funky jazz style -- and titles include "Giant Swing", "Scene Cartaincall", "Palette", "Snow", "Back Shot", "7th Feeling", and "The Empty Screen".

Album Review:
Tremendously heavy grooves from this wonderful Japanese combo -- a jazzy outfit that leads with some amazing acoustic basslines, then follows them up with romping piano and some very heavy drums! This special 2-disc set features the Indigo Jam Unit in both audio and visual formats -- the audio one a great full length set that more than lives up to the quality of their previous albums -- and the DVD features some great video footage of the combo! The sound here is wonderful -- a sound that's even fresher than some of the other Japanese club jazz of late, with a groove that's almost more contemporary than classic -- yet which still has all the warmth of an older jazz release. The group's sporting two drummers on this outing -- which gives the piano and bass an extra level of energy -- on titles that include "Adrenaline", "Switch", "Hyo Ten", "Matador", "Buffalo", "Ren", "Sphinx", and "Leon".

review:
Once upon a time, there was a guy with trumpet, a naked girl covered in whipped cream, and a bunch of songs that directly became American classics.

Loh? disini uniknya.

Buat yg demen jazz nge-beat, nu jazz lovers, remix, fansnya Herb Alpert, yg pengen dengerin album unik, ini dia mainan yg gw tempelin logo wajib.. enjoy!

ps: album originalnya yg super vintage bakal gw naikin jg besok2... biar bisa ngebandingin ntar. stay tune!

The word Triplexity is a portmanteau of triplex and complexity. Triplexity is a virtual band, its members never met each other face to face, all collaborations came to live thru the Internet. It would be difficult to define Triplexity's musical style inasmuch it's extremely varied and versatile, there are no two tracks sounding alike. One time it may be jazzy, another time harsh and electronic, sometimes ethnic and organic and sometimes abstract and ambient. There are some qualities though that always persist in Triplexity's music : uniqueness, complexity, intelligence and threefold talent of the trio members.

by Marvin

Triplexity is a virtual trio consisting of Nikila, SaReGaMa and Hamelin Bérengnier. This is a highly polished but refreshingly versatile ensemble that play a scintillating mixture of nu-jazz, new age music, and world fusion. The twelve tracks offer a variety of moods and sound. The opening “Between Light and Shadow” is smooth jazz with an exotic vocal by Moving Sands. “Three 4 Ten” excites the senses and the mind in 10/8 time and their cover of John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme” is surprisingly danceable. Latin beat and funk are also in abundant on some tracks and treated with the same effortless virtuosity. The only time the album gives me pause is on a couple IDM/ambient tracks that breaks up the groove but even these are well performed. Over all, this is a good album of world beats and new age jazz grooves.

NU JAZZ
(again! downbeat with lounge ambience)ZIMPALA, two talented French DJs, under the names of speakers and BNX WALTERS. They - the framers of the new avant-garde sound, a kind of club music - ZIMPALA MONDO MUSIC: striking exotic mixture of live music, jazz, funk, exotica & cinematic music, spiced with electronics. "BREEZE IS BLACK" - the second album, kills its eclectic Zanoun, in the
which harmoniously combines different musical traditions, one of the most impressive electronic works in 2004.
ZIMPALA, one of the best not only in France but throughout the world-fusion dance groups. Invented two dizzying di-Hampton, the project gradually enriched by living musicians and singer-beauty, brunettes named Noemi. The second (and last to date) Album group much more sincerely-erotic girlish vocals and, in general, what can be called "songs", but not at the expense of corporate ZIMPALA execution.

review:

Kuniyuki Takahashi is a sound designer and producer who is based and works in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. In 1994, he started his solo musical career. In 1997, as FRR HIVE, he released a mini album which was released on CD and 12INCH from the BASSMENTAL label. And in 1998, he had been participated in the RAINBOW 2000 outdoor festival in Japan, as a member of HOSONO HARUOMI(YMO) group.
In 2000, as Kuni, he released a track which was included on Dego of 4 Hero's, 2000 BLACK label called "THE GOOD GOOD" compilation. In 2001, as KOSS, he has released his full-length album out of soundofspeed and as Kuni, he released a12inch EP from Lifeline Records.
Kuni also remixed ANANDA PROJECT's track, "Cascades of Colour", which was included in the Ananda Project Remix Album titled, Re-Release out of King Street Sounds. In 2002, as Kuniyuki, he just released a 12inch EP called "Precious Hall", out of Natural Resource, a division of Joe Claussell's Spiritual Life Music label. As KOSS, he released his 1st LIVE album CD through soundofspeed.
He is no doubt one of Japan's best kept secrets. International DJ's such as Joe Claussell, Dego, DJ Cosmo, Jimpster to name but a few, have been falling over themselves when they heard his produced tracks. Now, some of them have been releasing his works through their own labels. He has also been working closely with the soundofspeed crew over the past few years and releasing hisworks on their own label and performing live with them in their famed parties which are held regularly in Tokyo and sometimes in parties such as the Big Chill and in excursions to Austria and Europe. Check out the ever-consistent and surprisingly prolific producer out of Sapporo, Kuniyuki Takahashi!

Po minus jeden- poniższy wpis miał duże problemy natury złośliwo-martwonaturalnej, dlatego pojawia się ostatecznie dopiero teraz. W wersji trzeciej.

18 rilejsów: singli, ep'ek i longplejów...

I nęci.

Rządzi jednak BEAT, proszę Ciebie i to jaki!. Po miszczosku i z filingiem. Absolutnie zostałem ujęty i takim pozostaję. Punkt poniżej maksa, w skali Maksa Jak-Mu-Tam.

PS.

To tyle
