Ο Diesler (προφέρεται Ντίεσλερ..) επιστρέφει για τρίτη φορά να μας κάνει παρέα στα ακουστικά ταξίδια μας. Μετά τα Diggin It Somethin Rotten & Keepie Uppies από την Tru Thoughts, υπέγραψε στην δισκογραφική εταιρεία Freestyle Records και μας παρουσιάζει τη νέα του δουλειά με τίτλο The Rhythm Station. Με ένα πλήθος συνεργασίες στα φωνητικά, αλλά και με ένα πέρασμα από τα γνώριμα λημέρια της Nu Jazz/ Broken Beat, Funk, Soul & Latin σκηνής, μας παραδίδει ένα δίσκο που δεν διαφέρει καθόλου από τους δύο προηγούμενους αλλά παρόλα αυτά είναι ακόμα πιο "γλυκός", πιο εύηχος και πιο ευχάριστος. Πολύ καλή δουλειά, 4/5....

Even though it was years ago that I first picked up the 12 inch for Inverse Cinematics "Detroit Jazzin," the track still packs a punch in the mix. In 2008, they've finally released a full length on Pulver Records called Passin Through that's definitely worth checking out. "Interplanetary Motivations" is only one highlight from this great record that features broken beat, hip hop and nuff futuristic headnod.

This is a real gem. Super spaced out Crunch Galaxy type sounds and I would say there is something aquatic about this mix as well. Either way, it's really dope and if you're checkin for that kind of sound nowadays like many of us are, this is a great one to add to your collection. The mix also takes us on a journey through some African/World sounds, some Hip Hop, and back. Very cool.

I really like the label name 2000Black, I imagine it comes from the Fela Kuti/Roy Ayers song 2000 blacks got to be free. Either way Dego kills it on his newest mix Dego Exclusive Mix Tape.

Τί γίνεται όταν ο παλιός καλός Moby συναντάει τον Dr. Rubberfunk?? Το αποτέλεσμα λέγεται Aldo Vanucci... Ο συγκεκριμένος κύριος, αφού έβγαλε μια σειρά από 7ιντσα στη Βρετανική Catskills Recordings, υπέγραψε στην Good Living Records για την πρώτη του ολοκληρωμένη προσωπική δουλειά. Και τί δουλειά!!! Broken beat, nu jazz και hip hop, αναμεμειγμένα με ένα soulful και funky χαρμάνι καθώς και καταιγιστικά loops που θρυμματίζουν κόκκαλα, έχουν ως αποτέλεσμα ένα θαυμάσιο CD ικανό να ακουστεί κάθε ώρα και στιγμή αλλά και για κάθε διάθεση. Τα πολλά λόγια είναι φτώχεια.. Just listen to it....4/5

Ο Κος Flevans έβγαλε την πρώτη ολοκληρωμένη δισκογραφική δουλειά του στην Tru Thoughts και η επιτυχία ήταν προδιαγεγραμμένη. Η συνεργασία του με την δισκογραφική εταιρεία Jack To Phono έφερε στο προσκήνιο τη δεύτερη δουλειά του, με τίτλο Unfabulous. Ο δίσκος κυμαίνεται στα ίδια πλαίσια με την πρώτη του προσπάθεια και για κάποιον που θα περίμενε κάτι περισσότερο, λυπάμαι αλλά θα απογοητευτεί. Jazzy & funky flavours, παρέα με loops και heavy beats, δημιουργούν ένα κλίμα παιχνιδιάρικο, θυμίζοντας σε μεγάλο βαθμό τους LemonJellys. Η αλήθεια είναι ότι περίμενα περισσότερα. Μέχρι τη στιγμή που γράφονταν αυτές οι γραμμές, ήμουν έτοιμος να το "καταχωνιάσω" βαθμολογικά. Αλλά λόγω...Flevans, 3/5!

Η Βερολινέζικη μουσική σκηνή του Breakbeat έχει γράψει τη δική της ιστορία, κυρίως με δισκογραφικές εταιρίες όπως η Pulver Recs και projects τύπου Dublex Inc. Η Switchstance Recordings έχει βάλει και αυτή το δικό της λιθαράκι, έχοντας βγάλει στην αγορά εξαιρετικές δουλειές. Kabanjak & Protassov είναι τα μεγάλα κεφάλια της δισκογραφικής και όπου βάζουν το χεράκι τους, έχουμε μόνο θαύματα. Άλλα ονόματα της εταιρείας είναι οι Ancient Astronauts και οι Deela. Οι τελευταίοι έβγαλαν την πρώτη προσωπική δουλειά τους μέσα στο 2007, με τίτλο Mano Mano. Ακολουθώντας τον δρόμο που χάραξε ο Quantic και εμπνευσμένοι από την broken beat/ nu jazz σκηνή, με heavy basslines, funky percussions, σαξόφωνα, φλάουτα και στοιχεία afrobeat και latin, δημιούργησαν ένα από τα καλύτερα soundtracks του φετινού καλοκαιριού και ένα all - time classic urban/ night anthem. Τα λόγια είναι περιττά. Ένα "ΕΥΓΕ" είναι απλά αρκετό. Ακούστε το.... 4,5/5

Juno to Release Exclusive New Remixes of "Alright" by Urban Soul

Juno Records, the online dance music site will release exclusive remixes by top producers Karizma and Jay Shepheard, as the fifth installment in their tenth anniversary series. The release reworks the classic 1991 underground house hit, ‘Alright’ by Urban Soul featuring the vocals of the legendary Roland Clark. The four remixes plus the original track, will be available on the Juno Records website and digitally on Juno Download - Juno’s dance MP3 site.

Karizma (Basement Boys, Defected, Soul Heaven) has produced for the likes of Mary J Blige, Kim English and Kenny Bobien and is one of today’s most versatile producers of deep house, broken beat and minimal house. His “Kaytronik Movementz Part 1” mix is a raw 12 minute excursion that weaves melodies in and out of a stripped down Detroit groove. Είχαμε καιρό να ακούσουμε κάτι τέτοιο. Κάτι τόσο πρωτότυπο βρε αδελφέ. ME & YOU - Floating Heavy. Σας παρακαλώ συγκρατήστε το. Το ντουέτο αποτελούν οι Rob Lewis (αφεντικό της δισκογραφικής Tru Thoughts) και ο Alex Cowan (κατά κόσμον TM Juke). Μόνο μια λέξη υπάρχει για μια τέτοια συνεργασία: ΕΓΓΥΗΣΗ. Disco, Dub, Funky Breaks, Hip Hop, Electro, Broken Beat. Αυτός ο δίσκος έχει τα πάντα, μα πάνω από όλα.... έμπνευση. Πάρτε τον οπωσδήποτε. 4/5.

Rephrase - Little Victories. Η μάλλον Huge Losses. Τέλος πάντων να μην είμαι και τόσο αυστηρός. Αν ακολουθήσεις την πεπατημένη, σίγουρα θα έχεις ελάχιστες απώλειες. Έτσι και αυτός ο δίσκος. Τον περίμενα με λαχτάρα και κατάφερε να με απογοητεύσει. Κλασικό broken beat/ nu jazz, όπως θέλετε πείτε το. Γενικά, είναι για groovy καταστάσεις σε συνδυασμό με τα funky breaks που χαρίζει απλόχερα, έτσι ώστε το λιγότερο που θα κουνάς θα είναι ο γοφός σου. Όσο για loops & samples να φάνε και οι κότες. Κι όμως, κάτι λείπει..... Με μεγάλη απογοήτευση 3/5 (είπαμε, να μην είμαστε αυστηροί)!

Είσατε fun των Lamb, των Portishead ή μήπως των Mandalay (αλήθεια, τους θυμάστε?)? Αν ναι, τότε αυτός ο δίσκος είναι απαραίτητος για τη δισκοθήκη σας. Καθαρή Trip-Hop, με minimal ήχο (κιθάρα, turntables και φωνητικά) είναι ότι πρέπει για τις κρύες νύχτες δίπλα στο τζάκι, παρέα με το σκυλί του Αγίου Βερνάρδου και λίγο κονιάκ. Οι Belleruche είναι από τα τελευταία αποκτήματα της αναγνωρισμένης πλέον δισκογραφικής εταιρίας Tru Thoughts (www.tru-thoughts.co.uk), κάτι που σημαίνει ότι η ποιότητα είναι δεδομένη. Όσο για τα φωνητικά...απλώς μαγευτικά. 4/5 μάγκες!!

At last, we've found another A-ranked record: an album titled "Between the Hammer and the Anvil", from The Belle Auren. Rewind Music is a distributor dedicated to bringing quality, cutting-edge trip-hop, downtempo, illibent music to the world and in the process introduce the masses to the incredibly eclectic sounds of experimental. Well, if they don't succeed with Belle, then with nothing. Browsing through the album, we were amazed by the quality of the tracks like Birch, Is This Your Fault?, Montage and the title track, Lysim - but we could mention all the featured songs. Aaah, 4/20: My favorite date in the year! And I am preparing to make the trip down to SF from Seattle for a series of performances. This party is the kick off of a full weekend of performances for me. On this nite, I'll be reuniting with the Get Low posse (now named Sub Low) & DJ Mikebee to revisit the Garage, Broken Beat & 2-Step vibes we were running back in 2002-2003. During this time, I MC-d alot of events in the bay area of these types of music. Mikebee himself has booked me to perform alongside DJs: Benny Ill (Horesepower), Seiji (Bugz in the Attic), Kode9 (Hyperdub) & Moonstarr (Public Transit). I also performed at the monthly Get Low parties alongside quality Bay area locals Subtek, Jamin Creed, Enzyme & others. Good to link with this family again- I haven't been back to SF since I left it nearly 4 years ago! Well, I'm off to pack- see yu inna SF.......
